iSat Line

"iSat install highly efficient Ka systems reducing unwanted loss and maximizing use of expensive amplifiers.
This antenna did not support weight of the amp when mounted on the boom arm, so in this example the amp is fully moveable in Azimuth, but the loss in the waveguide network is less than 0.5dB, compared with over 2dB if traditionally mounted on the antenna post."

"iSat work extensively in Ka band and are especially expert in system below 29.5GHz".

Antenna Reflector recommendation.

Hello, we were wondering if you could help us and our customer by recommending a manufacturer of antenna reflectors who is willing to sell the reflector and backing mount structure and boom arm/feed holder without the post nor the feed, but with the F/D ratio.

We know we can visit the very highly reputable main suppliers who will give us a comprehensive solution, but our customer has established antennas and doesn’t need the full turnkey. Please let us know if there are reflector manufacturers.

The need is tx/rx and at Ku band. We will need to mount our own feed for operation at our own frequency, but Ku reflector will be good for what we need.

Very kind regards
David

Seeking product to put RF on to IP channel.

Dear all,

We’re in the market for a product to put RF on to IP channel.
Clearly we’re using the IP to multiplex a lot of traffic and put it over satellite.
While this is relatively straightforward for most streams (CCTV, phones, etc), putting RF on IP, is like

-          Driving a road over a car to get from A to B or

-          Putting the base station on a middle earth orbit for stationary users to make connections...

In other words, it’s more usual to put IP on RF, than put RF on IP.
We don’t want to bring the RF out of the RF domain because it’s status, and while there is one supplier, we’re keen to look for technically advanced product as our assembly needs to outperform existing product.
The RF frequency is anything from 10Mhz to 2Ghz
Anyone have anything to sell for this would be most welcome. Thank you!

Pilot quantities initially leading to hundreds over 3 years.

At iSat we believe the best way of show our capability is through our previous projects. That’s why we've set up a case studies page on our website outlining some of our experiences over our 25 years in the satellite industry.

View iSat's Case Studies here.

Satellite products are famed for the reliability, and so when things do go wrong, the product is often very old or obsolete and the companies that supplied the goods have often been acquired by another company. Getting original manufacturers to support these products is often problematic, and replacing these products with new can be impractical given the tendering, testing and qualification costs.

Just such a situation arose when a customer within the Astrium group returned some equipment. It was used in a stabilized platform meaning replacing with new would have meant re-qualification costs. iSat used their skills and experience to repair the most obvious physical and electrical damage and for a reasonable fee prevented the long process of replacing with new media converters. This is just one example of many where iSat repair facility is able to save customers time and expense by using our skills and experience to repair defective equipment.

I visited the Satellite Catapult to attend the SME day last Friday. The UK’s Satellite industry is already a significant and profitable contributor to the UK economy and the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills is looking to expand upon that success. This is clearly a very genuine effort to encourage growth in the satellite industry. Never before has the UK’s government focused so heavily on our industry and made it such a strategic priority. So what will our industry’s role be in Britain’s future?

There are some growth strategies the government’s best placed to implement. You may say they should be working to help the industry anyway, but with strategic focus it should get done quicker. Regulatory changes to allow the development of space ports and allow foreign companies to see their developments would be welcomed here. Influence with ITU and increased ESA funding (which should come back our way). All good stuff.

What I also admire is that they are not directly spending money or picking winners. They facilitate introductions to funding through the Satellite Finance Network. We all know “The City” raises money – like the debt finance- for Apple, and the IPO of the Post Office. What is also a “truism” is the difficulty in raising small amounts of finance for small business. The Catapult is connecting smaller business with investors eager for a return in the fast growing SME sector- and with a turnover of £30Bn by 2030 it is attracting a lot of interest.

On the other hand, expanding the current exports from £2Bn now to £25Bn by 2030 is a daunting prospect. Can the governmental environment really have such a huge impact? In conclusion- I’m really happy to be in satellite at the moment, and iSat has huge experience in export to Africa and Middle East, and is excited by the prospect of increasing business to these regions.

iSat announces Heads of Terms agreement with Atlas mounting.

ISAT LTD, ENGLAND- (Hampshire) -- 07/08/13 – Integrated Satellite Application Technologies (iSat), A systems integrator specialising in satellite earth stations for frequencies such as X-band and Ka band for use by government, satellite operators and broadcasting organisations, today announced that it signed a heads of agreement to purchase Atlas Mounting for a deferred cash consideration.

Atlas Mounting initiated the idea of lighter non-penetrating mounts for 2.4mtr antennas made out of Aluminium material. For the last 6 months, iSat have re-engineered the satellite mounts from the ground up and produced mounts that retain their weight advantage, but have increased their durability and robustness. These objectives were achieved by utilising durable aircraft grade aluminium and pioneering a tangential system of supports which resulted in less torque and increased strength. A modular design which minimised components and deployment time was also utilised. The overall weight for a 2.4mtr mount is 75Kg, and iSat have placed a heavy emphasis on good customer service so packing with 6 carry handle straps allows for easy man handling off lorries, and deployment to roofs - which often have restricted access. Compare this to a 325Kg steel mount normally delivered with a 2.4mtr Prodelin antenna, and you can imagine that this new mount takes the physicality out the earth station construction.

Owning the drawings and being able to adjust for special situations will gradually grow the product range. Accessories such as mounts for solar panels can be integrated into a final solution.
